Details of Investigation
On Saturday, July 10, 2021, at approximately 3 a.m., officers responded to a working fire at the Slam Grill Restaurant located at 3685 Keele Street.
It is reported that:
- a fire was deliberately set at the restaurant
- police arrived on scene and located a man who had obvious injuries as a result of the fire
- life-saving measures were performed
- the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital
He has been identified as Shahriyar Safarian, 18, of Richmond Hill.
On Monday, July 26, 2021 the Toronto Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation.
It is reported that:

- the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital
