Police Dog Services

Baylis, a two year old German Shepherd dog, graduated on September 19th, 1997 as a general duty police dog after four months of training. Constable Paul Caissie is Baylis's handler. Baylis, who is named in memory of slain Constable Todd Baylis, was purchased through donations from the public made to the Todd baylis Memorial Fund.

The Dog Services unit was formed in 1989 and had two General Purpose Dogs. Since that time, with the support of Police Management and the Police Services Board, the Unit continued to grow. There are currently eighteen General Purpose Dogs, five Detector Dogs and on Explosives Dog for a total of twenty-four K-9's.
