· Can I talk to a recruiter?
You may call the Employment Unit and ask to speak to uniform recruiter. You may wish to attend a mentoring session. · How much does it cost to apply?
The application fee for the Constable Selection is $299.60. This fee must be paid to Applicant Testing Services or the Ontario Provincial Police prior to testing. Back to top

· Will I automatically get an interview?
Not every successful applicant will be invited to an interview. Constable Selection is a competitive process and applicants outnumber available positions. Applicants’ files are reviewed and assessed for ability to meet the Toronto Police Service’s organizational needs. Back to top

· When should I apply?
You should apply once you have received a valid OACP certificate of results and have all necessary documents required to accompany your application. Back to top

· Is my age a factor?
Persons interested in applying for the position of police constable must be at least 18 years of age. This age is a requirement of the Police Services Act of Ontario. As long as an applicant is successful in the testing process, he/she can be considered for the position of police constable. Back to top

· How long does it take to get hired?
This question is difficult to answer and depends upon successful completion all of the necessary stages of the Constable Selection System (testing, interviewing). Should an applicant not be successful in any part of the selection process, there may be a required waiting period as long as one year before being eligible to try again. Back to top

· Do I get paid while I am in training?
Yes, new recruits are considered employees of the Service and are paid once they commence training. Back to top

· Do I have to pay to attend the Ontario Police College?
Yes, new recruits must pay a "tuition" fee of $7,500. This amount is payable at least two weeks prior to attending the Ontario Police College. · How long does it take to get a OACP certificate?
Normally, it will take 3 to 4 weeks from the time you have completed your BPad test to receive your OACP certificate from Applicant Testing Services or O.P.P. Back to top

· Do I get another OACP certificate when I update any of my test results?
No, you will receive a letter with your most recent results. This letter and your original OACP should be presented whenever you apply to any Police Service. Back to top
