The International Association of Chiefs of Police was established in 1893 and from those early years, Canadian police leaders have played an important role in the affairs of the Association and in the advancement of police executive development. In fact, Julian Fantino's bid for the position of Vice President at Large on the IACP Board of Officers is not the first of its kind. Three prominent Canadian Chiefs of Police served as President of this great organization. Chief Constable Samuel J. Dickson of the Toronto Police Force was elected IACP President for 1925-26. Chief Constable Denis Colburn Draper, also of the Toronto Police Force presided as IACP President for 1944-45. More recently, Chief Leonard G. Lawrence of the Hamilton, Ontario Police Force, held this position for 1967-68. |
