On Tuesday, February 17th, 1987, at approximately 2:22 a.m., officers were dispatched to 2135A Lakeshore Boulevard West, Toronto regarding the collapse of a child.
Upon their arrival, Peter Anthony Wallace, 5 years-of-age, was found unconscious. Emergency Medical Services transported the child to St. Joseph’s Health Centre, where, despite attempts to revive the child, he died at 4:10 a.m.
An autopsy revealed the cause of death as Hirschsprung's Disease.
Investigation revealed that the child had been suffering from this disease from May 29th, 1985 through February 17th, 1987. After consultation between the police and the Crown Attorney’s office, it was determined that sufficient evidence existed to charge the child’s father and his common-law wife with the manslaughter. The child’s father, Archie Wallace, alias Ephriam Wallace, was arrested. An arrest warrant was issued for Rosaleen Wallace, 31 years-of-age at the time of this crime, alias Rosemarie Fader or Joanne Demitro, on a charge of manslaughter.
