Details of Investigation
During this investigation the reporting officers interviewed a witness who placed a 9-1-1 call to the Police Communications Bureau to report a male lying on the sidewalk on the north side of Bloor Street West, west of Spadina Avenue.

This call was received at the Police Communications Bureau at 3:01 a.m. on Monday, September 29th, 1997.

The call was dispatched as a medical complaint although the caller states on the 9-1-1 tape that the victim was kicked.

A uniform Sergeant of 14 Division responded to this call along with emergency personnel of the Toronto Fire Department and Department of Ambulance Services.

This victim was identified as Horst PETER who later died at hospital from injuries sustained from an altercation.

Horst was seen to have been assaulted by a passerby.

The witness provided the reporting officers a description of the suspect as: male, possible native, 6’, 200-245 lbs, 35-45 years, long black hair-ponytail, wearing blue jeans and a dark jacket.

Investigations are continuing.
