Details of Investigation
The following are the circumstances surrounding the death of James ROBERTS.

On Friday, May 2nd, 1997, at about 11:14 p.m., the sounds of gun fire were heard in the area of 189 Vaughan Rd.

This male returned to his apartment and called 9-1-1 to report his findings. As a result of this information a three tiered response to 189 Vaughan Road, apartment #2 in York, involving Department of Ambulance Services, York Fire Department and members of 13 Division was dispatched.

Police arrived at the scene and discovered the lifeless body of the deceased lying in the front hallway of his apartment unit. It was apparent at this time that the deceased had suffered trauma to the area of the head.

As a result of their observations the officers secured the scene and contacted members of 13 C.I.B.

Detectives attended the scene and took charge of the investigation.

Homicide Squad and Forensic Identification Services attended the scene and conducted forensic examinations.

The investigation to date has revealed that a short time after the murder, two males in their twenties, five foot six inches tall, 140 pounds, wearing dark clothing with hoods over their heads, were seen running from the side door of the apartment building shortly after the shooting was heard.

The investigation continues.
