On Friday, January 14th, 2005, about 8:50 p.m., Thanushan Jeyakumaran was stocking shelves at the Spice Land Super Market, 5790 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto
Three men entered the store and abducted Jeyakumaran, assaulting him and forcing him into the back seat of a waiting car. A number of other men, in addition to the three that entered the store, were involved.
In addition to the vehicle containing the victim, one or two other vehicles were seen leaving the parking lot at the time of the abduction.
Approximately twenty minutes after the abduction, police officers patrolling nearby McLevin Park, found Jeyakumaran with two men, identified as Franklin Nesarajah and Rajeevan Atputharajah. The victim was suffering from stab wounds to the back.
Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where he succumbed to his injuries.
An autopsy determined the cause of death to be stab wounds to the back.
Nesarajah and Atputharajah were arrested and charged with 1st-degree murder.
Investigation revealed the identities of two more individuals that were involved in the abduction and murder: Purushothman Nadarajah (who was 22 years-of-age at the time of this crime) and Rohan Charles George.
Rohan Charles George turned himself on January 16th, 2005.
An arrest warrant on a charge of 1st-degree murder was issued for Purushothman Nadarajah.
