The following are the circumstances surrounding the murder of Peter Lam.
On Friday, July 10th, 1998 at approximately 0800 hours, Police from 42 Division uniform responded to a radio call at Pitfield Road and Brimley Road with regards to the sound of gunshots.
The officers searched the area and located a male laying in a parking lot on the west side of 4466 Sheppard Avenue East, in a pool of blood. The male was suffering from gunshot wounds. This address is a plaza on the north side of Sheppard Avenue East, just east of Brimley Road.
Uniform Sergeants from 42 Division attended the scene and immediately established scene security.
The Forensic Identification Unit attended and began a forensic search of the crime scene.
The Coroner attended the scene and ordered an autopsy be conducted on the deceased.
The Homicide Squad were notified and took over the investigation.
The investigation revealed that the deceased was inside a nearby gaming house just prior to his death. At approximately 12:00 midnight, he received a telephone call on his cellular phone and left immediately. He was shot a short distance away.
A search of the area was conducted by members of 42 Division and Police Dog Services.
On Saturday, July 11th, 1998, a post mortem examination of the deceased was conducted. The cause of death was Multiple Gunshot Wounds.
The investigation is continuing.
