On Thursday November 4th, 1999, at about 2016 hours, a Metro Toronto Housing Authority Security Officer was making routine rounds within South Regent Park when she heard what she believed were gun shots. She ran to the area of South Regent Park Community Centre at 204 Sackville Green and observed the deceased lying face down in a pool of blood. She radioed for assistance and M.T.H.A. called 9.1.1
Toronto Fire Service responded from Hall #7, as did Toronto Ambulance. Resuscitation attempts failed and the victim was pronounced dead.
Toronto Police Service from 51, 52, 55 Divisions and the Emergency Task Force attended, under the direction of an Acting Sergeant of 51 Division.
The scene was protected and the Homicide Squad and the Forensic Identification Service were notified to attend.
Detectives from the Forensic Identification Service attended and commenced an examination of the scene.
Detectives from the Homicide Squad took charge of the investigation.
The investigation is continuing.
