The following are the circumstances surrounding the death of Hung Van NGUYEN.
On Tuesday, March 02, 1999, at approximately 04:30 a.m., a number of calls were received by the Toronto Police 9-1-1 operator. Callers reported hearing yelling and the sound of a shot and that a man was lying on the road near the intersection of King Street West and Jefferson Avenue.
Officers from No. 14 Division, the Toronto Fire Department and The Department Of Ambulance Services were dispatched to the scene.
Police attended to the victim until Fire Fighters and Ambulance personnel arrived.
The victim was transported to hospital by Ambulance.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 14 Division were notified of the incident and took charge of the investigation.
The Toronto Police Homicide Squad was notified attended the scene and took charge of the investigation.
Forensic Identification Unit attended the scene and conducted Forensic examinations.
The investigation is continuing.
