Responding to 9-1-1 calls regarding a person shot, on Monday, February 9th, 1998, at 11:34 p.m., officers attended the Pool Time Dining Lounge, 3351 Ellesmere Road, Toronto.
Upon arrival, officers saw a number of people outside the premises, and on entering, found Alric Hanson, who had been shot in the face. Further information was received that a second person, also suffering from gunshot wounds, had been taken to Scarborough Centenary Hospital. Despite medical intervention, Alric Hanson died of his wounds.
An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head.
The second injured man underwent emergency surgery for a gunshot wound, and eventually recovered.
As a result of an investigation by the Homicide Squad, an arrest warrant was issued for John Paul McCOGG, 26 years-of-age at the time of this crime, on charges of 2nd degree murder and attempted murder.
