On Sunday October 29, 2000 at about 20:49 hours, 41 Division received a
9-1-1 call for emergency service to the address of 720 Kennedy Road, an apartment building. The call came from a resident of the apartment who reported that a shooting had occurred in the driveway of the building.
Officers from 41 Division were dispatched to the scene along with paramedics from the Department of Ambulance Services.
Police from 41 Division were the first uniform officers on the scene.
Upon their arrival they report finding four injured males near a vehicle on the south driveway of 720 Kennedy Road. Each injured party was attended to by emergency services personnel at the scene. Two of the male parties were taken from the scene to Sunnybrook Hospital. The remaining two were removed to the Scarborough General Hospital.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the male parties had arrived at the address in one vehicle. Pulling onto the property, they were set upon in an ambush style attack. All of the victims were shot, at what witnesses say, was close range. After this attack a vehicle was seen leaving the vicinity in a southerly direction.
Two of the male parties succumbed to the injuries they sustained in this shooting.
Sujeveen SRITHARAN, 18 years, and Rishekasan SELVARAJAH, 17 years.
Two other males survived their gunshot injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
