The now deceased, Christopher Oviawe PALMER aged 25 years was born in the U.S.A. He later became a citizen of Nigeria. He entered Canada in January of 1999 seeking asylum as a refugee.
While in the Toronto area, he became employed as security for the local nightclub.
On Monday February 14, 2000, Mr. Palmer attended 619 Yonge Street, The Web Club and was there as a patron.
It was during the early morning hours that Mr. Palmer was approached by unknown males and shot.
As a result of a 9-1-1 call, the police attended the scene and discovered Mr. Palmer on the dance floor suffering from gunshot wounds. As well there were 3 other patrons suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
Mr. Palmer was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at the emergency ward.
The investigation is continuing.
