The Cat Lady of Parkdale was a war veteran who had fallen on hard times and lived on the street as a bag lady when she was sexually assaulted and strangled in the ninth floor stairwell of a Jameson Ave apartment.

Details of Investigation
The following are the circumstances surrounding the death of Patricia Ann Stewart.

On Sunday, February 18th, 1990, the deceased was found by apartment manager of 200 Jameson Avenue, in the stairwell on the 9th floor.

At 12:43 p.m., members of the Toronto Fire Department, the Department of Ambulance Services and Officers from 11 Division attended the scene.

The Coroner’s Office was also notified to attend the scene.

The Regional Coroner, attended the scene and pronounced death and a Post Mortem examination was ordered.

On Monday, February 19th, 1990, a Post Mortem examination was conducted upon the deceased.

During the course of the Post Mortem examination, the Doctor discovered a number of injuries to the deceased which were not apparent at the time that she was found.

The cause of death has been determined to be Manual Strangulation. The deceased had also been sexually assaulted and beaten.

The background of the deceased is very sketch due to her transient lifestyle but it is known that she had been sleeping in the stairwell of 200 Jameson Avenue off and on since November 1989.

The investigation is continuing.
