Homicide: #58/1997
Date: October 29, 1997

Victims
Darlene MACNEILL
35/F

Details of Investigation
The deceased female was 35 years old at the time of her death. Investigations to this juncture have determined that she was heavily addicted to “crack” cocaine and was involved in street level prostitution in PARKDALE to support her addiction. In the three weeks preceding her death she was living in various motels and in the last few days prior to her demise she was sleeping in a broken down automobile.

Investigators have traced her last movements to a run down triplex on Cowan Avenue, where she was last seen alive on Tuesday evening, October 28, 1997.

On Wednesday, October 29, 1997, at approximately 12:15 p.m., two teenage youths discovered her body floating face down in Lake Ontario adjacent to the shoreline at the rear of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch situated at 1395 Lakeshore Boulevard West. It was apparent from the condition of the body that she had been in the water for only a few hours.

A Post Mortem examination conducted on Thursday, October 30, 1997, determined her death to be from “MANUAL STRANGULATION COMPLICATED BY DROWNING”.
