The purpose of the Human Resources Support Services unit is to contribute to the achievement of the Toronto Police Service’s mandate and priorities by maintaining the operation and development of the Human Resources Management System (HRMS), the Time Resource Management System (TRMS), and such other applications as may be assigned to its area of responsibility, and to oversee the implementation of business processes, enhancements and upgrades associated with these systems. Unit is also responsible for the following:

• Analyzing and documenting corporate enterprise resource requirements and specifications to ensure they are meeting the business needs of the Service and are upgraded as required

• Documenting business processes and standardizing the reporting of time and attendance; sick, vacation, lieu time, court attendance, paid duties, parade, deployment schedules and other time related matters on TRMS, as provided for in the Collective Agreements, Service Rules, Procedures, and other authorized source

• Re-designing and streamlining processes, ensuring acceptance and usage through effective change management programs

• Implementing service packs, patches, and other upgrades and new functionality, including annual tax upgrades to HRMS and TRMS

• Creating and maintaining testing environments, including testing pools, plans, and scripts

• Creating technical documentation, user manuals and reference materials for the functions of HRMS and TRMS in partnership with Training and Education, developing courseware and conducting in-house training programs for end-users

• Providing system support to all units reporting to Human Resources Management

• Providing second level application support to members of the Service, including problem classification and trouble-shooting (first level support is provided by the Help Desk)

• Authorizing access to HRMS and TRMS and maintaining and updating security profiles

• Developing standard, complex, and ad hoc query reports for the analytical requirements of users across the Service

• Managing job schedules and tasks, including the running of HR Pay

• Managing interfaces such as HRMS-TRMS, TRMS-CAD, TRMS-SAP, TRMS-CASC

The Enterprise Resource Management Systems unit is located on the 9th floor of the Toronto Police headquarters, at 40 College Street.

The office hours of the unit are from 0730 – 1600, Monday through Friday.
