The demolition process is well underway as can be seen from the following photographs. The 1960’s portion of the old school is gone and demolition of designated sections of the building constructed in 1913 is well underway. The remaining portion of the 1913 façade facing Davenport Road will be supported throughout the construction process by an exoskeleton soon to be built by the demolition contractor.
In line with the LEED® accreditation process, demolition material is sorted and recycled. As of the 20th of February 2010 this process has seen 94% of the removed material diverted from landfill.
Storm water retention wells designed to reduce the amount of storm water shed into the city’s storm drainage system have been installed. These wells will also pump rain water into a filtration system. This filtered “grey water” can then be used for the toilets and urinals.
Footing and foundation installation proceeds for the erection of a tower crane that will be used to move equipment and material around the site.
